Why Betsy Devos Had No Business At Bethune Cookman University’s Commencement [EXCLUSIVE]
When the HBCU Bethune Cookman University invited Betsy Devos, of all people, to be the commencement speaker for this year’s graduating class, most people responded with anger, shock, and tens of thousands of petitions. Devos, who was largely unheard of before being confirmed as Secretary of Education, is not known for work or beliefs that benefit disadvantaged students, or more specifically, black students.

So for not just any university, but a historically black university, to pick someone so far removed from their educational journey to see them off after four years of hard work, it’s really a huge slap in the face.
