Season 3 of “Empire” is officially happening! As fans await the second half of season 2 following December’s explosive winter finale, it looks like they’ll have even more to look forward to from the hit series, as the Fox network has renewed the show for a season 3. Fox TV Group chairmen Gary Newman and Dana Walden confirmed that a third season is in the works during the network’s TCA presentation earlier this week.
In related “Empire” news, co-creator Danny Strong also spoke on rumors of both Mariah Carey and Oprah Winfrey appearing as guest stars on the show in the near future.
Despite the chatter suggesting that two megastars would be next on the long list of celebrities to pop up on the show, Strong says neither of the women would be making appearances. He told the Hollywood Reporters, “none of those people are going to actually be on the show so I can’t control what names all of a sudden take off as being guest stars because they’re not.”
The second half of ‘Empire’ season 2 premieres on March 30. Check out the the trailer below.
