Def Jam celebrated its 30th anniversary on Tuesday at SXSW was a showcase of the label’s past and present artist performing some of their greatest hits from past artists like Redman and Method Man to current rappers Pusha T, YG and 2 Chainz.
Redman and Method Man took turns performing their past hits with Red performing ”Time 4 Sum Aksion,” “I’ll Be That,” and “Tonight’s Da Night,” and Meth doing fan favorites like “Method Man,” “Tical,” and “Bring the Pain.” They ended with their biggest hit to date “How High.”
The most lyrical rapper on the bill Pusha T got the crowds attention with songs like ”King Push,” “Blocka,” and “Millions.” He rounded it out with his memorable verse from “Mercy” and “Grindin”.
Also spotted in the crowd at Stubbs BBQ were Def Jam co-founder Russell Simmons, along with Justin Bieber and Jay Z. Peep some of the action that went down with video and photos in the above slide.
