Drake Admits To Using Drugs
What was Drake‘s motivation to reveal that he has used drugs? In an interview with The Guardian, Drake was asked about some of his more melancholic lyrics, including one on “We’ll Be Fine,” where he boasts of being “too alive” to ever contemplate such an action.

However, the interviewer noted that for Drake to even bring up such a dark topic there had to be some point of reference. He responded with “Yeah, I know,” before adding “because you get artists in this position who go crazy and don’t know how to handle it. There are people who have killed themselves. There’s the overwhelming stress, how tired you are, the weight on your shoulders of going out here and giving 18,000 people entertainment … It’s a lot of pressure.”
When asked about coping mechanisms, the journalist mentioned drugs. Aubrey’s response was: “Have I sipped codeine before? Yeah, of course. Have I smoked weed? Yes. Do I drink wine? Yes. But do I do it excessively? No. I’m not a reckless guy. I do it all within moderation. I’m not into drugs.”
And then the interviewer notes: “He realizes what he has just said, and bursts out laughing, as do his crew. ‘I mean any outside the ones I just mentioned.'” That’s so funny my heart almost gave out. You know, kinda what codeine does to a person after a while. But let me stop sounding like a D.A.R.E. ad. Whatever works?
