Funk Legend Sly Stone Is Homeless, Living In A Van
According to the NYPost, soul music legend Sylvester “Sly Stone” Stewart is homeless and living in a van parked on a street in Crenshaw. He eats once a day thanks to the generosity of a retired couple that lives on the block, but Stone insists that he prefers living this way.
“I like my small camper,” he says Stone, now 68. “I just do not want to return to a fixed home. I cannot stand being in one place. I must keep moving.”
Stone was a fixture in music during the 60s and 70s as the frontman of Sly and The Family Stone. They released numerous hits including “Dance to the Music,” “Everyday People,” “Family Affair,” “Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)” and “Stand!”
Their music has been sampled by countless artists including LL Cool J, A Tribe Called Quest, Queen Latifah and more.
