Zara Dampney and Shauna Mullin, beach volleyball champions in Great Britain, are hoping you will photograph their rear ends and then download them.
The Daily Mail is reporting (our thanks to Yardbarker for the tip) that the bikini briefs on the duo will have a bar code imprinted and when scanned on a smartphone takes you to the website of Betfair, a bookmaking organization.
Ranked 26th in the world, Dampney, a law school grad, and Mullin, who has a marketing degree, are Britain’s top team heading into the 2012 Olympics in London. The bar code will not be allowed during the Olympics.
The Daily Mail is reporting the deal with Betfair at five figures.
Said Betfair’s Andy Lulham: ‘There is huge interest in beach volleyball and we want to ensure that our advertising campaign is seen and remembered by as many sports fans as possible.”
Earlier this year Mullin said that the sport was taken seriously and that ” here in England we are still stuck at the stage where people think beach volleyball is about sex, not a sport.”
