Tiger Woods Loses No. 1 Spot
For the past five years, Tiger Woods has been ranked the No. 1 golfer in the world.
That changed this week, when he was supplanted by England’s Lee Westwood. Ever since Tiger came back from his five-month break to go to sex rehab and work on his marriage, he’s struggled. He is yet to win a tournament this year.
“As far as the world ranking is concerned, yes, I’m not ranked No. 1 in the world,” Woods told the Associated Press this week. “In order to do that you have to win and I didn’t win this year.”
Woods is now ranked No. 2 in the world behind Westwood and followed by recent PGA champion Martin Kaymer, Phil Mickelson and Steve Stricker. There are three events left for 2010, where Woods can have a chance to get his rank back up or fall down further in the rankings.
