The football team in Washington now has as many stories about benching Donovan McNabb than it has wins.

The newest has offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan saying the quarterback was told in advance he might be pulled.

That came as news to McNabb who quipped “I didn’t hear that part.”

With the news that ex-Oakland quarterback JaMarcus Russell was brought in along with a busload of other players for a quick look, the circus atmosphere continued to surround the team.

McNabb, who has his “cardiovascular endurance” questioned has been news-sandwiched between Rex Grossman and Russell.

Of course former teammate Terrell Owens took his shots on the T.Ocho Show.

“Well, I don’t really want to start anything, but I did play in the Super Bowl and there were rumors where he couldn’t get our two-minute offense going at the end of the game. I’m just saying.”

The only good news for the team is that between the bye week and the Randy Moss affair in Minnesota, they may escape without any more controversy.

For now, the team is spinning it that they wanted to do the best for McNabb and the important thing is “to rest him up and get him better for the rest of the year.”
