According to USA Today, one coach in Houston just kicked two players off the team for protesting the national anthem. At Two Victory & Praise Christian players Cedric Ingram-Lewis raised his fist and his cousin Larry McCullough knelt. After the anthem finished head coach Ronnie Mitchem told both players to take off their uniforms.

Coach Mitchem is a former Marine and a pastor that has a church-based football program. The coach had found out both players were going to protest and earlier in the season had said he didn’t want anyone to. Lewis said, “He told us that disrespect will not be tolerated. He told us to take off our uniform and leave it there.” Mitchem said, “That was my point of view. Like I said, I’m a former Marine. That just doesn’t fly and they knew that. I don’t have any problem with those young men. We’ve had a good relationship. They chose to do that and they had to pay for the consequences.” The aunt and mother plans to have a conversation with the school and coach.
