Little Kaleb, affectionately known as “baby buns” to those who followed the pregnancy, was born 16 weeks premature, and delivered via C-section after doctors told Dana that the pregnancy had cased a nearly fatal high blood pressure.

The doctor told me, ‘If you continue to carry this baby, you’re going to die.” Dana told People. But despite this, Dana insisted on holding on as long as possible to give him the best chance of survival, even if it meant risking her life.

She refused to go on with the delivery until it was a time where they could actually take care of him in the neonatal intensive care unit,” Arkell added. “I’m going to tell you, just looking at my wife, it was the most selfless thing I have ever seen somebody do.

Kaleb had to stay in the hospital for a full 365 days, but thankfully, this story had a happy ending. On Wednesday, the family of three — all healthy — were finally able to go home:

As for everyone following along on social media, Dana knows how lucky she is for the outpouring of support she and her baby have received throughout the trying experience. “I’m just so grateful because the page let me know I was not alone.”

Look at God.
