According to CNN, over 100 million people are scheduled to tune in — similar numbers to the Super Bowl. Both candidates have much at stake politically; Clinton struggles with transparency and likability, while Trump’s combative, sometimes vague tone alienates significant portions of the population. Monday’s event provides an opportunity for candidates to clearly outline their political platforms on national security, prosperity, and the country’s direction.

“We have never seen any kind of interest like this, and probably never will ever again,” Aaron Kall, director of debate at the University of Michigan, told CNN.
A new CNN/ORC poll shows a narrow lead in two crucial battleground states; Colorado and Pennsylvania. Trump stands at 42 percent to Clinton’s 41 percent in Colorado, while Clinton leads 45 percent to Trump’s 44 percent in Pennsylvania.
Candidates have rigorously prepared for weeks, but as history has proven, winning is based on conduct. The candidate who proves to be the most poised, precise, and pragmatic will take home the winner’s card.
Clinton and Trump’s talking points are unpredictable in this current election season, both historical and polarizing, but this debate will influence the outcome of the upcoming election.
Meanwhile, a new Bloomberg news poll shows Trump ahead by 2 points, notes CNBC.
Other polls show Clinton still holding the lead, though not by much. Clinton leads Trump by just 1.5 points, according to a Real Clear Politics poll average, down from 2.4 points a day ago. As recently as last month, this spread was considerably wider, with Clinton leading Trump by as much as 7.6 points.
FiveThirtyEight’s forecast pegs Clinton’s chance of winning at 51.5 percent to Trump’s 48.5 percent.
