R&B Singer-Songwriter Leon Haywood Has Died

R&B singer and songwriter Leon Haywood died in his sleep. The death was confirmed by Leon’s step-son, according to Billboard. The 74-year-old singer was famous for hits like “I Want’a Do Something.” A more modern take of that song is located in Dr. Dre’s “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang.” The sample is almost a one to one rip from Leon’s song. The portion of the song was also used in a lesser known 50 Cent song “Corner Bodega” and Aaliyah‘s “I Gotcha Back.” Haywood also wrote Carl Carlton‘s “She’s a Bad Mama Jama” which peaked at No. 2 on the charts in the early ’80s.
