There’s a fine line between freedom of speech and hate speech. While Georgia Southern University senior Emily Faz should be focusing on graduation, she’s trying to pick up the pieces of her reputation after speaking her mind on Facebook went wrong.

She reposted an article from the Washington Times with the headline, “Mizzou protesters, Black Lives Matter complain Paris attacks stole their headlines.”

Faz then added the comment, ‘I swear if I see this B.S. at Southern I will make you regret even knowing what a movement or a hashtag is, and you’ll walk away with your tail tucked.”

She also said, “The whole black lives matter movement is misguided and out of hand. Maybe no one likes or takes y’all seriously because no one can see past your egotistical [expletive]. Some people might just look past it, but fair warning I am not one. All lives matter, that has always been the case, and you part of the problem if you think otherwise.”

The post immediately gained traction and campus activists were encouraged to call her place of employment. “Wanna have a word with the manager at Wild Wings Cafe about Emily Faz, here you go (912) 681-9453,” one student tweeted.

Faz has since been fired from her job and wrote another Facebook post addressing the incident. It was supposed to be an apology, however it’s more of Faz reiterating and justifying her previous derogatory comments.

“I look white, I know this but I’m not just white. I’m a hispanic and white…,” began Faz’s amended statements. “Like it or not, the Mizzou students that were involved in that were spreading the opposite of what people hope for and work for that movement, this I already knew.”

No, Emily Faz, you know nothing!

Fortunately, the interim president of GSU, Jean Bartels, doesn’t seem to feel the same way as Faz. According to The Daily Mail, Bartels said “GSU will not tolerate behavior that is in violation with our Student Code of Conduct. The school takes threats very seriously.”
