Finally, Mary J. Blige is getting good news.

Mary’s latest album My Life II: The Journey Continues (Act 1) has been certified gold after being on sale for six months. The RIAA confirmed the milestone earlier today (April 19th). This has been the best news for Mary J. Blige since she found out her Burger King commercial was being pulled.

On the other hand, Mary J. Blige is known for churning out hits and her last couple of albums have been underwhelming. If you check Mary’s track record, My Life II is her lowest selling album to date. That stat includes the poorly received Stronger With Each Tear. My Life II’s big single has been “Mr. Wrong,” which features Drake. “Mr. Wrong” hasn’t even cracked the Top 40. It peaked at the 87th position. Mary was supposed to follow My Life II up with another album in May. Since it’s the middle of April and we have yet to hear a single, we’re going to bet the next effort has been pushed back.

There is a lesson to be learned here. For all of those Mary J. Blige fans who were in an uproar because of her Burger King commercial, here’s a little something for you. Mary wouldn’t have to be shucking and jiving for some fried chicken if you would have bought her last few albums.
