Despite popular belief, Mo’Nique‘s husband, Sidney Hicks, didn’t suggest he and the Academy Award-winning actress have an open marriage. At least that’s what Mo’Nique recently said in a candid Periscope chat.

“Originally it was my idea,” she explained while sitting in her car. “At the time when Sid and I got together 10 years ago — now keep in mind this was my best friend since I was 14 — but when we first got together I was still stuck in being famous and a celebrity and being a star, and I felt like I could have whatever I want. So I was still in an insecure place of, ‘I can have that, I can have that, I can have that.’ And because I was dealing with my best friend, my best friend said, ‘If that’s what you think you need, as your best friend, I don’t want to stand in the way of it.’”

She continued, “That’s how I felt back then… but what I didn’t want to do with my best friend was to be sneaking or cheating, so we had open and honest dialogue, which unfortunately some of us are so afraid to have.”

In the interview that sparked debates, Mo’Nique admitted she wouldn’t be mad if her husband wanted to sleep with someone who was willing to do something she wasn’t.

“What is it about that person that you find that you wanna sleep with? Because they may give you something that I’m simply not willing to do,” she said in an interview with True Exclusives. “And if that’s the case, how can I be mad? Because I’m not gon’ do it. Should I deprive you of not having it? That’s when the relationship is real real.”

However, she said she doesn’t give her husband a “pass” to cheat. “We don’t give each other passes to cheat, because when you cheat, you lie, when you lie, you steal,” she clarified.

Mo’Nique and Sidney are turning their open relationship into a radio show, premiering on New Year’s day.

Reality TV star Toya recently revealed she gave her husband Memphitz an eight-day “pass” to cheat do whatever he wants.

What say you readers? Would you give your man a “pass” to cheat?
