Protests Continue In Missouri Town After Police Shooting Of 18-Yr-Old Man

A rapper named G.A.G.E. has released a song entitled “I Am Mike Brown” in response to the shooting and the violent turn that protests have taken in Ferguson, Missouri in the days after the shooting. He uses Mike Brown’s mother’s (Lesley McSpadden) early statements to the news in both the beginning and the end of the track, as well as a snippet from the statements of Dorian Johnson, Mike’s friend, who was walking with him with the incident occurred.

What was originally intended to be a peaceful protest has been tinged with incidents of looting and rioting. Police have militarized their responses, using tear gas, rubber bullets and other violent tactics on even the crowds who are protesting peacefully. There has been a lot of uproar in response to these events, and this song is just one of the many voices speaking out.
